The Indonesian
Embassy in Canberra is attentively following
an allegation made public by an individual that
the prosecutors of Ms. Schapelle Corby's case
have demanded money in exchange of a lighter
sentence for the alleged drug smuggler.
The Indonesian
Embassy has been in contacts with authorities
concerned in Indonesia and thoroughly verified
this serious accusation. Based on the results
of these representations, the Embassy categorically
denies the accusation and wishes to inform those
involved in this smear campaign that the government
of Indonesia is considering all legal options
pertaining to this case, for it is punishable
under Articles 316 and 317 of Indonesia's penal
codes.
