Today, Prime Minister John
Howard and leader of the opposition Mark Latham accompanied
respectively by their wives have come to the Indonesian
Embassy in Canberra to personally express their condolences
and supports to Indonesian government and its people, victims
of a barbaric act of terrorism, Jakarta, September 9, 2004.
After signing the book
of condolences, both Prime Minister and leader of the opposition
met with Ambassador Imron Cotan during which they reiterated
their strong commitment to jointly combat terrorism, a common
enemy of all peace-loving countries.
Prime Minister John Howard
also conveyed the decision by the Federal Government of
Australia to donate and channel financial aids - through
non-governmental organizations - to the bombing's victims
which indeed augurs well with the government of Indonesia's
intention to bear all of their hospital costs.
