Following
the bombing in Bali last month, the Australia Indonesia Association
of Canberra supported by the Indonesian Embassy organized a
fundraising dinner on Wednesday night, 27 November 2002, to
raise funds for the Sanglah General Hospital in Bali that has
been tirelessly helping the victims of the tragedy despite their
very limited resources. The event was aimed at showing solidarity
with friends in Indonesia and extending a hand of friendship
to them.
This
fundraising dinner which was attended by Australians, Indonesians
and members of the diplomatic corps raised Aus $ 5,050 from
the dinner, and auctions of two tickets donated by Garuda Indonesia
"Sydney-Denpasar-Sydney" and several Indonesian traditional
materials.
These
funds along with a donation of Aus $ 3,000 from the Bomaderry
High School, New South Wales, will be forwarded directly to
the Sanglah General Hospital.
