INDONESIAN MOSLEM COMMUNITY IN CANBERRA
CELEBRATING THE EID MUBARAK 1424 HIJRIAH

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar

After fasting for the Holy Ramadan month since 26 October 2003, the Indonesian Moslem community in Canberra gloriously celebrated the Eid Mubarak on Tuesday, 25 November 2003.

Wearing various and colourful Moslem clothes, about a hundred members of Indonesian Moslem community in Canberra joined for Eid Mubarak prayer at the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra at 7.30 a.m. Led by Mr. Taufik Prabowo as the "Imam", the prayer was conducted in a humble way before God and continued with a "khutbah" by Mr. Arief Zamhari as "khatib".

Also joining in the prayer was the new Indonesian Ambassador to Australia, H.E. Mr. Imron Cotan and his family who had arrived in Canberra on 24 November 2003.

Later on Saturday, 29 November 2003, the Ambassador H.E. Mr. Imron Cotan held an Eid Mubarak's gathering ('Halal Bihalal') at the his residence from 12 to 2 p.m. Around 400 people from the Indonesian community in Canberra, Ambassadors and members of the Diplomatic Corps from friendly countries, the Indonesian students in Canberra, members of the Australia Indonesia Association (AIA) of the ACT, and many other 'friends of Indonesia', attended this function.
