Charge
d'Affaires Ad Interim of the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra
Mr Imron Cotan accompanied by Mrs Eni Cotan and some Embassy
staff visited the Indonesian national heroes grave in
Cowra, New South Wales, on Friday, 20 June 2003, where
they were greeted by the Cowra Mayor, Councillor Bruce
Miller.
On
the visit, the delegation prayed for the Indonesian heroes
who buried in the cemetery, followed by a wreath laying
by Mr Cotan and Mayor Miller.
There
are thirteen Indonesian national heroes buried in Cowra,
namely Kaswadi, Evani, Soelistinah, April, Salamah, Kadarisman,
Nadji Adenan, Masian, Soengeb, Said, Moeim and Matoha.
There was, however, one person whose name could not be
identified. Those thirteen heroes were exiled by the Dutch
colonials from Digul prison, Papua to Cowra in 1942-1943,
and died in Cowra because of the bad weather and sickness.
They were officially entitled as Indonesian national heroes
on 18 November 1997.
Below
are the pictures of the visit.
