Twenty-two
delegates from the Global Young Leaders Summit visited
the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra on Wednesday, 18 June
2003, and had the opportunity to discuss and exchange
views about Indonesia with the Charge d'Affaires Ad Interim
of the Embassy, Mr Imron Cotan. All the members of the
delegation are university students from the United States,
South Africa, Costa Rica, Kenya, St. Vincent, Norway,
Iceland, and Trinidad-Tobago. A similar group also visited
the Embassy in July of last year.
In the
discussion with the delegation, Charge d'Affaires Mr Imron
Cotan explained to them about Indonesia in general, as
well as the current issues in Aceh and Papua. Following
the discussion, the delegation visited the 'Balai Budaya',
where they obtained insightful information about Indonesian
culture, observed the replica of the "Borobudur"
temple, and listened to the beautiful playing of the 'Gamelan'
-Indonesian's traditional instrument.
Below
are the pictures of the delegation's visit to the Embassy.
