The
Indonesian national team made a tour of Australia from
12 to 30 November 2002 in preparation for the upcoming
Tiger Cup, which is to be held in Jakarta next month.
During its tour, the Indonesian national team visited
Canberra on 28 to 29 November 2002 and played a friendly
match against the Belconnen Blue Devils Club on Thursday,
28 November 2002 at the club's new McKellar ground in
Canberra.
In
an exciting and closely contested tussle, the Belconnen
Blue Devils gained a victory over the Indonesian national
team 2-1. The match itself was watched by hundreds of
spectators from the Australian and Indonesian communities
in Canberra. The organisers of the match collected a
gold coin donation from the spectators with proceeds
to be forwarded to the Indonesian Red Cross in Bali.
After
the match, the Indonesian Embassy in Canberra invited
all the members of the Indonesian team to have a breaking
fast dinner at the Embassy.
