PAPUA COUNCIL APPROVES REGULATION ON ALLOCATION OF AUTONOMY FUNDS 

The Papua legislative council has approved a special regulation on the allocation and management of trillions of rupiah in autonomy funds from the central government. The regulation, which was approved during a plenary session in Jayapura, consists of seven chapters and 33 articles. It will govern the use of an expected Rp 3.29 trillion (US$346.31 million) in autonomy funds this year. More

VICE PRESIDENT CALLS ON PRESS TO REDUCE NEWS WHICH MAY TRIGGER RADICALISM

FOREIGN INVESTORS BEGIN EYEING RI AS INVESTMENT DESTINATION : BI GOVERNOR

Jakarta - Foreign investors have began eyeing Indonesia as an investment destination alongside China, India and Vietnam thanks to its increasingly stable economic and political conditions, Bank Indonesia (BI) Governor Burhanuddin Abdullah said. Scholars attending a two-day international conference on religious pluralism in Indonesia have agreed that the country rests upon a secure historical and ideological base. Speaking on the first day of the Problems and Promise of Inter-Religious Studies in Indonesia conference Monday, 15 January 2007, Southeast Asian historian Anthony Reid of the National University of Singapore said that historically pluralism had always had its place among the Indonesian community.
