TWENTY RI UNIVERSITY RECTORS TO ATTEND AUSTRALIAN VICE CHANCELLORS'
MEETING
Canberra - Twenty state university rectors grouped in the Eastern
Indonesia Consortium will take part in the Australian Vice Chancellors'
Meeting to take place in the Australian capital on July 31, an
Indonesian official said.
"The
Indonesian rectors will not only attend the forum but also meet the
University of Australia Board (UAB) officials. The events will be a good
opportunity for our universities to set up cooperation with Australian
counterparts," Agus Sartono, Education and Culture Attaché at the
Indonesian Embassy in Canberra, said Friday (27/07).
Among
the Indonesian rectors to take part in the forum would be those of
Jayapura-based Cendrawasih University, Ambon-based Pattimura University,
Manado-based Sam Ratulangi University, Makassar-based Hasanuddin
University and Denpasar-based Udayana University.
They are scheduled to arrive in Canberra on July 30 and will also
set up cooperation agreements with the University of Melbourne and the
University of New Castle.
The
cooperation is designed to help develop Indonesian universities into
world class higher learning institutions, Agus said.
He cited as an example that the Economics Faculty of Yogyakarta-based
Gajah Mada University (UGM) would receive an accreditation from the
Association to Advance the Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) in the
coming days.
AACSB graduates are employed at Concordia University and the
University of Manitoba in Canada, Gajah Mada University in Indonesia,
Hebrew and Ben Gurion Universities in Israel, and Sungkyunkwan
University in South Korea (Antara, 28/07/07).
