JAPAN AGREES TO FINANCE RI'S NINE PROJECTS WORTH $ 847 M
Jakarta
- The Japanese government has agreed to extend loans worth 99.811 billion
yen (around US$847.2 million) to Indonesia to finance nine projects. The
loan agreement was signed by ad interim Charge d'Affairs of the Japanese
Embassy, Satoru Satoh and expert staff member of the Indonesian Foreign
Ministry M. Ibnu Said in Jakarta on Wednesday (28/03), the Japanese
Embassy said in a press release.
The
new loans bring the total amount of Japan's yen-denominated loans to
Indonesia to 4.166 trillion (around US$35.36 billion).
The
nine projects include the improvement of state electricity firm PLN's
operational systems worth 4,498 million yen (US$38.2 million), the
development of a north-west inter-connector transmission line in Sumatra
worth 16,119 million yen (US$136.8 million), the third phase of Java's
southern double track (engineering service) worth 981 million yen, and
development of the technical school of Hasanuddin University in Makassar
worth 7,801 million yen (US$66.2 million).
The
other projects are the development of national geo-spatial data
infra-structure worth 6,373 million (US$54.1 million), the improvement of
regional infra-structures for socio-economic development worth 23,519
million (US$199.6 million), the development of Peusangan hydro power plant
worth 26,016 million (US$220.8 million), the Aceh reconstruction project
worth 11,593 million (US$98.4 million) and the use of information and
communication technology to improve educational quality in Yogyakarta
